The Soviet Union

Major Conflicts

Military Occupation

In global law, the term military occupation refers to the transient, temporary, or impermanent invasion of a certain nation or a section of it by armed force of an   aggressive country. The Soviet transformed its military occupation of the western countries into economic and political supremacy by setting up contingent commands on Moscow. It as well pursued its ambition of broadening Soviet supremacy abroad. The Western powers however, responded to Soviet Union expansionism idea, thereby resulting into yet another cold war. How the Government Worked

The 1936 Soviet Constitution was also known as ‘The Stalin constitution’, this constitution restored the Soviet Union government by retracting restraints on voting, thereby encouraging direct and universal suffrage. Furthermore, the constitution acknowledged collective social and economic rights together with rights to work, and rest, care in old age and sickness, health protection, housing, government bodies, and their reformation into a uniform, single system. This Constitution gave power to the Supreme Soviet to decide on commissions, which preformed the majority of the Supreme Soviet’s work. In the previous constitution, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet implemented the complete powers of the Supreme Soviet between sessions along with the right of interpreting laws. The Presidium Chairman of the Supreme Soviet was the ostensible head of state (Getty, 1991). The constitution gave economic rights not integrated in the western democracies constitutions .The resolution to change, alter, and modify the electoral system to direct election, universal franchise, and secret voting was a quantify of the resilience of the party in its aptitude to guarantee the come back of candidates of its own option with no restrictions previously considered obligatory (Meltjuxov, 2002).

The 1977 constitution unequivocally defined the separation of duties between the republic and central governments.
