Old Military Cap
Military hi-cap mags in California?
I was recently discharged from the military. While going through my old stuff the other day, I found a small cache of 30-round M16 magazines and 15-round 9mm magazines. As all servicemen know, these aren’t “controlled items” in the military like a weapon is and it’s very easy to end up with extras.
Obviously, it was legal for me to possess these while I was active duty and living in California, the same way it was legal for me to carry an automatic weapon in the performance of my duties…but they aren’t legal for a civilian to own. For those that have intimate legal knowledge, did I suddenly become a lawbreaker when I received my discharge because I happened to have these? Could I be charged if they were somehow discovered? Is it legal for me to sell them to someone else? They have no government, military or law enforcement markings on them. I don’t own an AR-15 or any other weapon which accepts these magazines.
Only cops, crooks and movie studios are allowed to own Hi-caps. Either sell them to someone in the police or move to Arizona.
