Autumn and Winter Jacket Trends for Men
Winter might not be here just yet, but those cooler temperatures will be rolling in before you know it, which means now is the best time to start shopping around for some essential winter items – beginning with jackets and coats.
Jackets and coats are among the most important fashion items for the winter season. Aside from the functional aspect of keeping you warm, your coat or jacket is probably the one item you’ll grab for most during the winter. So you’ll want to make sure it’s not only cosy, but stylish and versatile too.
Of course, coats and jackets – like most other fashion items – follow trends from one season to the next. So a great way to start your search for a stylish fall or winter jacket is to refer to trend reports for upcoming seasons. One hot item on the trend list is the trench coat – specifically in a camel tone with buttons and flaps. It’s an easy piece to incorporate into your wardrobe, and it’s also among the more classic coat pieces – so you can keep it around for a while, without having to worry that it will go out of fashion.
For the coldest months, the duffle coat is a great option. You’ll stay warm, without looking bulky. What’s more, the duffle coat – like the trench coat – is both classic and versatile. So depending on the colour of the coat (consider black or grey), you should be able to wear it with anything. Opt for a wool or cashmere coat for optimal warmth.
Biker jackets, bomber jackets and military inspired coats will be making a comeback this season (although they hardly went out of style to begin with). Look for these styles in denim and leather – two very popular materials for the upcoming seasons. Denim styles are great for layering with (under thicker jackets or coats), while leather will withstand not only a great deal of wear, but also countless seasons of shifting trends. Tweed is another material you can count on seeing a great deal of, whether as blazers or overcoats. And when it comes to specific features on men’s jackets, look for off-centre or slightly diagonal zipper closures, and oversized or multi-position collars. Keeping just a few season trends in mind – and paying attention to the material of your coat or jacket – will ensure you not only look, but also feel great throughout autumn and winter.
