First of all let’s briefly go over what exactly tactical gear is. tactical gear or operational equipment tends to be items used by law enforcement and military. Of course the use is not exclusive to those specific organizations. Items that tend to fall into the tactical gear area are things like weapon sites and lasers for target acquisition, in short they have a very specific use. That’s not to say other items such as boots; underwear and even socks couldn’t be classed as tactical gear. Anything that has a specific purpose can be tactical in nature.

A simple t-shirt as tactical gear sounds lame. However, when you consider the high tech materials they are manufactured from that keep the body cool and wick moisture away, well you begin to understand how they can be classed as tactical. Police or military personnel in tense and dangerous situations need everything from their socks to their sunglasses to perform to specific requirements. There is absolutely no reason that we can’t use the same items and get the same benefits from them even if they are classed as tactical gear.

When you look up the definition of tactical in a dictionary one of the definitions states ‘of or pertaining to a maneuver or plan of action designed as an expedient towards gaining a desired end or temporary advantage’. Now that is a bit of a mouthful but it does explain why we have legitimate use in the outdoors for tactical gear and equipment. When we are out hunting, shooting or fishing we need to get the upper hand or have advantage over our prey or surroundings. Let’s face it anything that helps us out there in the wild is a big plus point.

So how do you buy tactical gear if you aren’t police or military personnel? That’s easy; take yourself a little trip online. Do a search and you will have a massive choice of suppliers at your fingertips. There’s no denying that some tactical gear, especially the high tech stuff like laser sights and night vision goggles are expensive, but if they give you the edge then it can be a worthwhile investment. Your outdoor boots are something you will get from a tactical gear retailer and the choice is massive. The surprising thing about tactical footwear is its affordability.
