what gear would you pack in a backpack for an off trail hike that is more than 1,000 miles?

what should a female pack in her backpack for an off trail hike that is over 1 thousand miles? how far should resupply drop offs be? what training would she need to have before going out? i am not doing this myself, i am just doing a study about females doing extreme sports and females doing wilderness survival sports, hunting and females in the military. i have used military gear instead of civilian gear. can anyone help?

Its very common for women to hike long treks the most popular is the Appalachian trail going north from south starting in early spring and finishing before winter sets in in the north. Some folks do it all in a single season some over years in sections.
