Military Ghillie Suits
Ghille suits, also known as camouflage suits have been used in the military since 1899; the first to use them was the British Army during the Second Boer War. Ghillie suits are commonly used in military because they give an opportunity to coordinate with the particular environment, which gives a sniper a chance to cover up himself from enemies or targets. Military camouflage suits are different than the types that hunters and paintballers use; military suits are more durable and build on a set of Army Combat Uniform or Battle Dress Uniform, which makes the suit stronger and prepared for more harsh use. The quality of a suit is quite important too; a good ghillie suit that has been produced appropriately will give a customer the freedom of movement and it will move in the wind in the same way as surrounding plants – this part plays an important role while spending time in the natural environment.
High-quality military suits are hand-made; most military snipers generally construct their own unique suits by adding pieces of real vegetation to it, or simply dragging it in the mud. Proper camouflage requires the use of natural materials present in the environment in which a sniper will operate. Making a professional camouflage suit from scratch can be very time-consuming, and very detailed; high-quality suit can take up to several weeks or even months to manufacture in order to work properly. Even though highly effective, camouflage suits are impractical for many situations where camouflage is useful, they tend to be very heavy and hot; the temperature inside of the ghillie suit can reach over 50 °C (120 °F).
