Sniper Ghillie Suits – The Secret Stealth Tactics Of Military Forces

The sniper ghillie suit is an essential part of the military sharpshooter’s arsenal. They often design and maintain their own camouflage suit in order to ensure its effectiveness. Prior knowledge of the terrain is important to the sniper’s effectiveness. The mesh covering the garment is decorated in multi-colored fabric that represents the look of the surrounding environment in which they will be placed. More threads and various colors are added that will enhance its effectiveness as needed.

 

Snipers in the military are heavily into details. They know that to pay attention to minutiae is the difference between life and death. The opponent may be passing by a tree, near a hillside or what may look like a gently sloping hill, but when they least expect it, the muffled sound of a sniper’s bullet can bring a swift end to an enemy soldier.

 

The sniper ghillie suits are very different from combat camouflage fatigues or combat smocks. There are vast improvements in terms of visual detail that can be seen when you are able to identify a soldier in the wood or surrounding area because of his outline and shadow detail. The ghillie suit offers a variety of visual elements that render a soldier unrecognizable.

 

The sharpshooters spend hours on end lying still; calculating math equations on things like the distance between their hidden location and the target zone. Air currents, humidity and temperature all affect a bullet’s flight path. When using a high powered weapon from 100 yards of more, these factors become crucial. The sniper ghillie suit is usually padded in key areas for kneeling, lying down and aiming from the ground.

 

Sniper ghillie suits offer great camouflage protection for Special Forces who want to have a tactical advantage in their mission. Quite often, the soldiers wear clothing with camouflage patches to attach mesh which can be quickly adapted for stalking while on the move. These suits break up the outline of a sniper on a three-dimensional level while obscuring their features to match the foliage or terrain around them.

 

These suits are an important part in warfare training as well as actual combat all over the world. Sniper ghillie suits range in complexity from a simple mesh in which local materials can be embedded to ponchos that completely cover a soldier from head to feet and render them invisible to the enemy.
