Military injuries: Are you covered
Serving in the Armed Forces is an understandably dangerous occupation. Even so, soldiers injured in the line of duty are just as entitled to make claims for military injuries as any member of the public is entitled to claim compensation for injuries. The MOD is also just as liable as an employer to be sued for negligence by soldiers injured while serving their country if the law proves that the MOD has been negligent. Negligence on the part of the MOD could, for example, extend to supplying inadequate safety equipment to soldiers.
Any soldiers who have suffered military injuries can make a claim under The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, which has been set up specifically to cater for military claims for compensation for injuries. The scheme has been created to compensate soldiers for injuries, and even death, suffered in the line of duty. The compensation scheme is also open to all regular members of the Armed Forces and Gurkhas, and relates to injuries or deaths suffered since 6th April 2005.
The scheme offers compensation for claims for military injuries on a scale of 1-15, with level 1 being the most serious.Any soldiers who have suffered military injuries can make a claim under The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, which has been set up specifically to cater for military claims for compensation for injuries. The scheme has been created to compensate soldiers for injuries, and even death, suffered in the line of duty.
